CHILDREN'S RIGHT TO BE CHOSEN FIRST
"According to Unicef, 50 million children are uprooted globally, driven from their homes by inconceivable conditions of violence, poverty, and deprivation. Parents are forced to make harrowing journeys with their families to find safety and a better life.
“This child refugee crisis is the worst since World War II — a humanitarian emergency that demands immediate action. Whether these children are migrants, refugees, or internally displaced, they are all children first. They don't choose where they're born. They urgently need — and deserve — our help now.” -- Unicefusa.org
For decades we have seen the plight of millions of refugees running from conflict on other continents. Now we are faced with a refugee crisis at our own borders. Children seeking refuge in the United States from extreme violence and poverty are being separated from their parents and detained in inhumane conditions and children within our own communities are fearful their parents could be taken from them at a moment's notice.
